A'Pieu Lip Tints

Unknowingly, I bought A'pieu lip tints on a whim not realising that they had a well-established position for being known for their lip tints. I don't have any written facts but let's just say that they're like the Dons of the Lip Tint World. Strangely what drew me to these products was the packaging because it appealed to my aesthetics (simple and chic) which is really rare because usually, I'm not too swayed by such things ... Anyway, from the videos/swatches I saw, the tints looked nice enough to leave me in enough confusion about which one I wanted ... Ultimately, I settled on three (and later bought two more).

Videos I watched:

The Order Process
I purchased all 3 (now 5) lip tints and 2 A'pieu blushes (which initially were the reason for my order) from KKollectionK mainly because the shades were in stock (ready to be shipped) and very well priced. My order was processed in 2 days but took a really long time (Christmas Season) to get to me, which I assume must've been from the holidays and customs adding their lovely kiss of tax to my box.  My items were well wrapt and I received 2 generous sample (one face mask and another collection of small A'pieu skincare). Overall, the order process was smooth and virtually hassle-free with constant updates and communication from the company. If you're after a fair deal along with an enjoyable experience (the customs kiss not being included) this is a great company to buy from. Eventually, I made a second purchase of just 2  glossy tints which was under the lovely tax threshold so didn't seem to take so long and I had no customs charges (yippee!) - again my items were well wrapt and I received a sample A'pieu lip tint remover (double yeah!).
The Packaging
Rarely am I ever drawn to products merely on packaging alone. I'd like to think I'm a lip enthusiast of substance that can look past the frivolities of external beauty but, when I saw these lip tints I was really taken with how simple and pretty they looked! To the point where I was really going to buy a gel tint on pure looks alone, despite the look of the actual gel tint not appealing so much to me. I digress ... So, did they live up to my vain expectations? Yes, they did and then some. The design is so pretty and I love how everything has been created so simple but, incredibly appealing. Often with East Asian cosmetics, Westerners coo over cutesy packaging (e.g. Etude House, Tony Moly) ... Sure, it's sweet to have a cute/different item every now and then but,  sometimes it's just nice to have things simple and chic.
The Formula
Epic! I was surprised by how awesome the Matte and Velvet formulas actually are - they're very soft on the lips, comfortable, pigmented, not drying and so blendable. I have no complaints ... yet, I do prefer the liquid lipstick tints over the gel. The gel formula is runnier and doesn't have the same moisture/comfort benefits as the more "liquid lipstick" formulas since by its nature it is a tint.
Scent
The Matte tints have a sweeter floral/rose perfume scent that I really like and enjoy. Its very light and can still be smelt on the lips after application until it fades but, it does take a while. Whereas the Velvet tint I have is fruiter but still sweet. Lastly, the gel tints have a fruity and more chemical scent and because by its very nature gel/lip tints have a runnier texture, I have ended up tasting it and it is rather bitter. Alternatively, the matte/velvet tints have a sweeter more pleasant non-bitter taste. Of course, I don't recommend tasting these tints but, it happens ...

Lip Swatches
Toffee Nut BR01: This is hands down one of my favourite brown liquid lipsticks. Its the perfect subtle light nude lip for my skin tone. I love it! I was so apprehensive about purchasing this shade as I feared it would look too light or possibly have to be "corrected" in some way but, I need not have feared this is a great shade and works very well for my skin tone.
Keep Punky RD01: This is such a gorgeous red with a beautiful formula. Its so comfortable and non-drying plus kiss proof when completely dry and it smells really nice. It's not a secret that I like my reds so I face sounding like a broken record at gushing about another red ... but, this one is oh so very nice. Message received? Cool.
Undercover RD02: Is a soft enveloping berry red that has the most moisturising properties of all A'pieu "All About Lip Stain Color Tints". The formula is not kissproof and takes a long time to dry down into a stain. If you suffer from dry lips or are just after something with a softer look and moisturising feel this is perfect and of course the colour is really pretty.
Misty Day CR02: I was expecting this to look more brownish (like in the tube) but, it turned out to be a pretty coral berry pink (?). Misty Day is a glossy tint that is not overly watery or runny. After a while, the glossy appearance does fade and leaves lips evenly tinted with slight moisture but, not enough to brace cold winds. If you do end up eating whilst having this on prepare for a rude awakening - its bitter. I don't recommend licking your lips with the gel tints ... Also, if you do have dryness don't be foolhardy and use a lip balm. This tint will cling to dry skin and coagulate/build up around those areas so reapply after meals or throughout the day may be necessary and it would be best to exfoliate prior application.
Dear No One RD03: I love how this tint looks black in the tube! On the lips, though it's a gorgeously deep red. Just like Misty Day, it has that same bitter almost like pills tase with the same thin layer of moisture after it dries down.  I think this tint is great for a strong gradient lip look and yes once again its a pretty red.
Lip Combo Idea
Misty Day A'pieu lip tint + Rimmel Black Tulip lip liner:  After Misty Day completely dried down, I lined my lips with Black Tulip which gave me subtle added definition and matched very nicely with the colour of the gel tint on my lips. I think this duo makes for a great combo to add depth, fullness and softness (round out lip shape). I think I've found a fav combination (note: both pictures feature the lip liner and gel tint combo)
Who'll like it?
If you like pigmented soft non-drying matte colours, chic packaging at great prices with great wear time - you'll love this!

Who won't?
If you don't like fragrance (or at least this one) and certainly something that may have a bit of a perfume taste - you may find this a bit too much. The perfume is noticeable.

Price
Gel Tints - £4.65
Velvet Tints - £5.78
Matte Tints - £4.65

What tint is best for me?
Well, I can only advise as I'm not sure which one you'd like or if you'd like any at all but, as a guide
  • If you want something matte and kiss proof which doesn't stain your lips go for the Matte Tints
  • If you want to tint your lips but, crave/want moisture and a soft effect that takes its time to dry down and gently stain your lips try out the Velvet Tints
  • If you want to stain your lips, don't mind a bitter taste and are comfortable with little moisture test out the Gel Tints

Alright that's it .. for now

Have you tried anything from A'pieu?
Do you have any favourite shades or products?
Which lip tint do you like the look of and sound of best?

Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated :)
