Sewing for the shop and recipes...

Hello my dears.. 

Such a beautiful Spring day here in New Brunswick.. 

The wind is blowing and it was a great day for laundry..

Please note our grass is getting green.. 

Remember we live in the north.. smile..

In between loads I did a bit of sewing.. 

Making a few primitive things.. 

Sewing bags with pockets for pin cushions.. 

A few ditty bags for lavender, buttons or such.. 

A crochet bag or two... 

And something for myself...

A jean apron from an old pair of Terry's pants.. 

I use a lot of jean aprons this time of year .. 

Great for painting, staining or planting herbs.. 

They are not very fancy but fills the bill for what I need.. 

I just cut it out of the jeans and at the bottom of the fly I sew 

straight down and then make a little hem.. 

The apron strings are just seams from the side of the legs.. 

Not very fancy.. smile.. 

I just cannot work without an apron on and dislike ruining my better ones.. 

I thought you all might like a recipe tonight.. 

We like this for baked potatoes instead of sour cream.. 

Cream Cheese Potato Topper

1 package of cream cheese

1 clove of garlic or 2 minced 

2 green onions minced 

1 T. finely chopped parsley

a pinch of hot pepper flakes 

kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

2 T. milk.. 

I mix it with a fork then use a whisk and cream well.. 

It is really good on a baked potato.. 

Lots more flavor, we think.. 

Do you ever make this?

Tonight's Supper.. 

Poached Haddock or Sole  (I forget which)

Buttered Peas with Onion.. (so good)

Just melt some butter in a small fry pan and add some sweet onion chopped and the amount of peas you need.. 

Slowly saute over medium heat until hot.. 

Don't over heat or you ruin them.. 

The only way we eat frozen peas now.. 

Baked Potato cooked in my potato baker that I picked up at a thrift store.. 

Did you know there was such a thing? 

I can cook 3 potatoes in it and they taste a though I cooked them in the oven.. 

Wonderful for Summer.. 

And then of course our potato topper.. 

No dessert.. sigh... 

Just though I would include a pic of our wee shop.. 

This is why I am sewing.. 

Trying to get a few things ready to sell in a month or so.. 

This spot is where I hope to put my working area.. 

Nice and bright ... 

Oh, I wanted to share a grandson sweet moment.. 

This morning as I was making coffee I heard my cell phone.. 

When I checked there was a text from our ten year old grandson telling me to have a good day.. 

Isn't that dear? 

I know.. 

Your grandchildren are just as lovely but this touched my heart... smile..
